Primary
The Primary programme at Coomera Anglican College provides a curriculum that is founded on contemporary research while developing life-long learners who are active global citizens. The overarching philosophy is that the College, in the context of a Christian community, should seek to inspire students to learn, lead and serve as we strive for excellence together. The values, which are the foundation of Christian principles, underpin the leadership of the College so the students are well prepared to serve their families and the wider world. As a College that strives for excellence, we must understand that its role is not simply achieving high academic standards, but developing and nurturing the young hearts and minds entrusted to it.
During the Primary years our staff aim to continue to develop in children strong literacy and numeracy skills and excellent work habits and attitudes, while fostering a love of learning now and for the future.
Learning activities are planned with the awareness that each individual has their own particular learning style and their own special gifts which are extended to enable each child to reach their full potential. This is assisted by our in-class extension opportunities, Maths Mastery and Infinity and Beyond Group Programme.
Our Preparatory Programme has been established since the College’s inception and is the first year of the Primary curriculum. It is a full day, five days a week programme where children begin their formal academic studies. Children learn through all key learning areas, including:

By using the language of Mind, Heart, Soul, and Strength we can focus on delivering a holistic approach to education that will give every student an opportunity to be active contributors to a flourishing global future. Education systems the world over are recognising the importance of building wellbeing into the curriculum and including opportunities for the development of character, resilience and Grit.
Examples of our Mind, Heart, Soul, Strength framework in practice include working toward a Growth Mindset to help students bounce back from setbacks and to promote continuous learning. Growth mindsets also contribute to students’ sense of accomplishment.
Years, Prep - 3 are encouraged to be Bucket fillers. "Bucket fillers" are those of us who help without being asked, give thanks and compliments, and generally spread their love and good feelings to others. Showing kindness helps students build connections and positive relationships.
Year 6 student’s complete activities exploring the language of character strengths. This information is then used to provide opportunities for them to engage in activities that utilise these strengths. Through studies in leadership the students can apply their strengths in visible ways.
Mindfulness is used across all classes in the Primary Campus to promote reflection, and create an inner sense of calm within our students. When our students can improve their ability to be present in the moment, they improve their ability to be actively engaged in learning.
At Coomera Anglican College, we understand that positive mental health and wellbeing is at the foundation of strong academic and overall performance. We aim to build in our students: resilience, self-awareness, self-regulation, resourcefulness, understanding, compassion, tolerance, self-confidence and a sense of belonging. As such, we deliver structured social-emotional learning programmes and provide personal development lessons for every year level. A focus on positive mental health is at the core of everything we do at the College. We encourage our students to be kind, forgiving, thoughtful, generous, respectful young people who have a love of life and are community-minded.
Our College employs Psychologists to provide intervention and support to students in need of added care. Our Psychologists are able to support and guide families in their journey of attaining positive mental health in addition to collaborating with external service providers where required. On our Senior Campus, students are able to self-refer to access confidential counselling support.
